Sila Orphanage is a new orphanage which Elijah Foundation started in 2005 in the city of Chaiprakhan (near Chiang Mai)! In December of 2004, some staff members of Elijah Foundation and Khaodee Orphanage visited the area and saw the need and vision to start another orphanage modeled after Khaodee. In April of 2005, a few Khaodee staff members were sent with twelve children to start up the new orphanage. Currently, we have 45 children at this orphanage.
Starting from Scratch:
After vision casting, the actual work to build the orphanage began in 2005 and was finished towards the end of 2005. It was really exciting to see through a project from vision to actual physical and properly running orphanage. The concept was modeled after the original orphanage (Khaodee) and all the staff were trained at Khaodee. Few older children were sent along with the staff to be models for younger children who never experienced orphanage settings before.
